Furniture Design: Reimagining Modernist Icons with the help of AI
Modernism and the Bauhaus movement was one of my favourite subjects when I studied Interior Design at college. So I decided to give each of these famous chairs a colourful makeover with the help of a text-to-image AI platform called Midjourney.
The results are stunning and I am in consultation with a manufacturer to discuss putting one or two of them into production.
Hotel & Leisure Design: Design for Wellbeing
A carefully considered colour & design scheme to create a welcoming and comfortable environment for guests.
The use of biophilic design was used to greatly enhance guest comfort, relaxation and overall wellbeing.
Care Home Design: Design for Dementia
One of the most important aspects of good care home design is colour and contrast. Good use of colour and contrast can not only create an aesthetically pleasing environment, but can also help residents with visual impairments, or dementia, navigate the space more easily. This can have a significant impact on their quality of life and overall wellbeing.
Thought Leadership: SBID SpeakEasy Podcast - Colour and Mental Health
I spoke with SBID (Society of British & International Interior Design) CEO and founder Dr Vanessa Brady about the links between colour and mental health.
During the session I tackled key topics such as designing for dementia, colour and its links to mood, and the future of interior design and mental health.
Education Design: Firwood High School - Colour & Design for SEND
I designed two new multi-sensory classrooms at Firwood High School, Woodbridge Academy in Bolton.
Firwood High School is a severe learning disabilities (SLD) school for children aged 11-19 and its core focus is on providing young people with varying needs the chance to learn in a welcoming and supportive environment.
To ensure a comfortable and inclusive learning environment for the pupils I created bespoke colour palettes that instil feelings of calm and aid productivity and are designed to help engage students using more than one sense at a time.
Residential Design: Design for a Women's Refuge Safe House
I am so pleased to have supported BCHA in redecorating one of its Respite Room properties. These rooms offer single-gender spaces for survivors of domestic abuse who may also be at risk of, or are already, sleeping rough.
I produced colour schemes to create a calming and welcoming environment for residents, reflecting on the impact of colour on mental health and wellbeing. I then spent two days with some Dulux colleagues at the property painting common areas as well as a bedroom.
Amy Smith, Service Coordinator of the Respite Rooms, said, “The work that the team has done will make a massive difference to the women we support. For me personally, one of the main things I want to achieve in this role is to give women a safe home, even though it’s just for a short time – and this definitely wouldn’t have been possible without your support”.
Presenting: Dr Dulux - Instagram Live
One of a team of presenters on these 30-minute live sessions on Instagram which ran alongside the latest season of the Changing Rooms TV show.
Myself and the other presenters from Dulux chatted about the Changing Rooms episode from the night before, and answered colour & design dilemmas from homeowners and viewers live on air.
Education Design: Windrush Primary School - Nurture Room
I worked with Windrush Primary School in London to create a nurture room that helps them support pupils with more complex behavioural and learning needs.
Creating a safe space that felt more calming, warm and homely for pupils was key to the success of the project.
Two small rooms were selected to be the nurture room. They were cramped spaces with bland walls and very little storage space. The rooms were combined into one and split into different zones, to focus on skills including concentration, relaxation, dining and play. A bespoke colour scheme was developed with graduated colours for each of the different zones
Presenting: RIBA approved CPD's
I regularly present Continual Professional Development courses (CPD's) to members of the Royal Institue of British Architects (RIBA) on topics such as 'Designing for Dementia', 'Colour in the Built Environment' and 'Colour and Contrast'.

I recently sat down with Education Today magazine to discuss how the design of learning spaces can significantly impact a child's learning behaviour, and path to their success.
From implementing the best design and creating zones for different parts of the day to picking the right paint and putting it into practice, the piece demonstrates best practice designs for education spaces.
Consulting: No. 10 Downing Street - Business Delegation Visit
I had the privilege of being part of the Enterprise Nation delegation who met with the Prime Minister's Business Adviser, Jimmy McLoughlin, at 10 Downing Street to talk about the issues and challenges facing small business, particularly those in rural areas.
It was a lively conversation with some key issues being discussed which have a huge impact on business owners and people trying to work from home or out of villages and small towns across the UK.
Our voices were respectfully heard and we were grateful to have been asked to influence Government policy by Enterprise Nation.
Social Housing Design: Using Colour & Design to Brighten Residents Lives
I devised a range of schemes to optimise space, improve aesthetics, and help to promote better outcomes for residents of a local authority in the Southwest of the UK.
A holistic approach was adopted for this project by looking at the full property portfolio including all products being upgraded, from the roof tiles, windows and doors to the fencing and pathway aggregates. Subsequent colour schemes were created to standardise and streamline the maintenance programme for the council, whilst still giving an element of choice to residents.
Steering away from featureless colours, I came up with a number of well-considered and uplifting designs which the council then collaboratively approved with their residents.
Leisure Design: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium (work in progress)
I've worked closely with the management team at the stadium to produce various colour & design schemes, based on colour trend predictions, for core areas within the stadium. The work forms part of the commercial partnership between Dulux and Tottenham Hotspur Football Club.
The implementation of the schemes is currently work in progress. Further updates will be posted as soon as they are available.
Presenting: Dulux Colour Futures Launch
As part of the launch of Dulux Colour Futures I was asked to present information about the use of colour in commercial environments.
Dulux launch a new Colour of The Year each autumn and this year it was called Tranquil Dawn, which sadly wasn't named after me, but I presented the palettes along with advice of where to use the on-trend colours to a room packed full of architects, designers and specifiers at a prime location in London.
